Equitrac Follow Me Print not working

Hello

I have Windows Server 2008 R2 acting as a print server with Equitac's Follow Me Print Management software installed. Added locally to the print server is a Kyocera Taskalfa 4551ci printer that is then shared to the network and visible to computers that are bound to active directory on another instance of Windows Server 2008 R2 acting as a domain controller. I have many Macs running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 which I would like to add this printer to.

Firstly, I download the Mac driver for the printer which is found here OS X 10.6+ Web ... 2017.07.28.dmg and install it onto a MacBook. Then I bind the MacBook to Active Directory, go to add a printer in the Printers & Scanners pane of System Preferences and the printer shows up there. However beside the printer name its kind is stated as Open Directory. I do have Open Directory set up in macOS Server on a Mac Pro but this is just for managing the Macs in profile manager. At the moment I am just testing adding the printer so am just binding the Macs to active directory. Regardless, I can select the printer and its driver and successfully add it to a MacBook. Users are just using local accounts on their MacBooks at the moment instead of logging onto the network using their active directory accounts. When a user goes to print something for the first time a dialog is supposed to appear asking for the username and password to connect to the printer but this doesn't always appear. If it does appear the user enters their active directory credentials, ticks remember password in keychain and clicks ok. Their file is put in the print queue on the MacBook but doesn't print due to messages such as "ready to print" and "hold for authentication". Clicking retry and pausing and resuming the printer tries to send the jobs again but the same messages appear. Users are entering their correct details and I have tried resetting their password, deleting the keychain entry and trying again.

The idea of the follow me print is that jobs are spooled in a queue on the print server and a user can go to any printer, log in with their printer code and billing code generated from the Equitrac software and release their jobs. However at the moment it seems print jobs are not getting from the MacBooks to the server. The MacBooks used to be on Snow Leopard, were upgraded to Lion, Yosemite and now Sierra. I believe the print solution used to work on the older OSs.

Anyone's help on this matter is greatly appreciated in advance.
