If I disassociate an iPad from my Apple account...

I have an ipad that belongs to my company.  I have to give the iPad back however it has personal information on it.  If I want to make sure the personal information is removed from the device, can I simply remove the device from my Apple ID?

No, this is what you want to do before returning the device to your company:

 

Prepare your device to sell or give away

 

You need to physically remove the data, sign out of all services (especially iCloud), make sure you have removed the device from the Find My iPhone app in iCloud.com.
