Airpods and user accounts

Me and my wife both have airpods. We both have them connected to our own accounts. When I first start a computer (iMac late 2012, Mac OS 10.12.6) and then sign in to my account the airpods show up and connect as expected. But when I then log in to my wife´s account and then back to my account my airpods do not show up any more. Also at that time my wife´s airpods (not my airpods) show up on bluetooth devices. Only after restarting the computer I can connect to my airpods again.

Any suggestions?
