sync ipad 2 running ios 4.x.y to itunes 64 bit ...

Hi,

I want to update my ipad 2 ios 4.x.y to ios 9.x.y. So I want to sync the ipad which contains my books, music and photos to my new notebook running windows 64bit having itunes 64bit. However, though the sync goes through (the ipad shows it's syncing) the content does not show up in the itunes library.

Updating the ipad to ios 9.x.y without syncing, I will loose all my content (to the best of my knowledge). Any help is highly appreciated.
