2017 iMac Speed Processing Photos

I just bought a new 2017 iMac ... in order to get more speed processing 1,000's of photos from a trip to Ireland, which included a wedding.

In order to have my MacAir and iMac in sync ... so I could work on the photos on both platforms, I engaged iCloud.

It Appears that these 1,000's of photos have been uploaded to iCloud and no my processing is slower than ever?!!!

I have TimeMachine, BackBlaze and Norton Security turned off. I ONLY have Photoshop CC active. I even turned off Bridge in order to speed things up ... to no avail.

What should I be doing to be able to use the speed of my new iMac? I'll even forgo the MacAir if necessary ... but that is rediculous ...

Thanks ....

Which model of iMac? How Much Ram? What apps are you using? Are these jpegs? Raws? Something else?

How and why are you trying to edit these images off a "cloud", off-site server?

Should be redownloading these images to your iMac and editing these directly on your Macs.

I don't understand why you are doing this?

Editing and processing images over the Internet from an offsite storage server IS going to be slow going.

Especially if you access the Internet over Wifi and not an Ethernet cable from your MODEM/router.
