Macbook recognizing wrong external display

My MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) with graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB running 10.10.5 is detecting that I'm plugged into an Acer CB280HK 30.5" when in fact I'm connected to the 28" which is causing me to not be able to select the correct display resolution in the system preferences. I've tried option clicking and also installing a 3rd party app called quick res, with no luck.

How can I get it to detect the right display?

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I have the same problem!

Hi,

I had similar problem. I connected my Mac Pro 2013 to two 28'' 4k monitors. One was detected correctly but the other was detected as a 30.5 inch monitor. I was connected using a mini-display port. Changed the setting in the monitor from DP 1.1 to 1.2. It has fixed the issue for me.
