MacBook Pro screen malfunctioning

I'm not too big on tech, but I'll try to describe my problem to the best of my ability.

I use a MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display from Late 2013, running macOS Sierra Version 10.12.

It's been working fine for years but recently, around a week or two ago, I've noticed some problems with the graphics. While watching videos on YouTube, (I've tried using Google Chrome and Safari), I noticed the videos would freeze for about 2 seconds every 10 or so seconds, while the audio plays just fine. This also happened while trying to edit a movie in iMovie. In addition, some bright parts in YouTube videos will become somewhat pixelated until I move my mouse or pause the video.

This has become very aggravating and my screen kept freezing as I typed this out.

I'd like to know if there is anything I can do to fix this. Thank you!

First thing to try is to 'Force quit' the program you are in.   Then try again.
