Playlist custom artwork not resizing

I create a lot of music playlists on my iPad which I like to add custom artwork to. As a default, iTunes creates a playlist icon from four of the tracks' artwork. There is an option to customise the icon by either taking a photo or adding one from the iPad Photo library. When you do the latter it doesn't size correctly so the end result is only part of the image displays. It works OK on a desktop Mac which is how I have been working around the issue.

Do others have this issue? Is there a fix?

I have an iPad Air 2 (10.3.3) and am having the exact same problem. When adding custom artwork for a playlist, once you 'choose a photo' it gives you the 'move & resize' screen, but moving or resizing an image does not do anything. When you select 'use' the image is displayed to large (zoomed in) within the artwork square.
