config.upload in my Recent Items

All,

I clear out my recent items list on a regular basis. Today I saw a file labeled config.upload. I've googled up and it seems it is used to pass along info to switches/routers. I've never seen this before so I wonder if any of you have and could provide more information about what it is and what it does.
