iPad tv app why do i need a wifi connection

I have videos on my iPad, put them there so I could have something to watch on flights. Why do I need a wifi connection to watch loaded videos? Seems dumb as all heck.

Can't disagree.

I believe a work around can be to open the app and possibly your files (even the local ones) when you're on wifi, then they should be available when you're offline.

ANd if you wish you could let Apple know your thoughts and issues about the way the TV app works

I have no idea why I can do this if you can't, and I do believe that you can't, but I can watch downloaded movies on my iPad just fine without WiFi.

As a test, and I have done this before, I turned WiFi off, restarted my iPad, leaving no doubt that WiFi was not connected, launched the TV app, and was able to play any and all three of the movies downloaded to the device.
