Unable to edit the Reading List in Safari 10

In Safari 9, when you had finished with an item on your reading list, you could click on a small "X" situated top right of the item to be removed. In Safari 10, that "X" has been removed.

Nice one Apple!

Seriously, does anyone know how to remove items from the Reading List?

Thanks in anticipation

Two finger swipe left on touchpad. Found it by accident!

Right click on an item and select 'Remove Item.' Not ideal, but only option to remove items at this time.

If you have a mighty mouse, swipe to left and a remove button appears.

I'm using Safari 10.0, and macOS Sierra 10.12:

I still have a question that falls under the original question:

Can you edit the reading list or only add and delete?  Can you create folders or lists so you can group like reading topics together, etc or does it remain a long list of web pages that run off the bottom of the screen?

I had everything bookmarked or in favorites within folders so it was easy to find things.  Seems the more I  bookmarke in favorites, the more sites and folders end up on my tool bar.  I'd like to limit all the clutter.  If not, does anyone know if you can you remove favorites and bookmarks from the tool bar but keep them grouped in the sidebar?

Thanks for sharing!

I don't think you can create folders in the Reading List, but you can certainly edit your bookmarks, create folders, etc.

You can do it directly in the sidebar, or you can do Bookmarks->Edit Bookmarks and do your editing in the main area of the window.

Thanks Luis.  That's as far as I got.  I was hoping for an extra feature.  Do you know if you keep things as Favorites or bookmarked, can you clear them off of the Safari tool bar?  Thanks!

Favorites go into the toolbar, bookmarks don't.

So if you want something to be quickly accessible but not take up space in the toolbar, make it a bookmark.

Thank you so much!  So fast and....all done!!  Cheers!

Had the same problem with OS-10.12.6.  Talked to Apple Support. While holding down the control key, click on the item that you want to delete. That will give you an option to delete that item.
