Can I still change the background color of my C...

Hello. I used to be able to change the background color of my warning console but since a while, I suddenly can't anymore. The 'preferences' bar is gone, even while it's still when I look at the Terminal. Can someone tell me how I can solve this problem, if this is even possible.
