How durable is the screen/coating on MacBook Pr...

Based on my understanding, some earlier models of MacBook Pro (especially MacBook Pro with Retina Display) had serious issues with the screen coating being damaged, often by coming in contact with the keyboard.

Is this still an issue on the new MacBook Pro (2017) and will it be covered by AppleCare if it happens? What would be some good precautionary measures to prevent such problem from arising?
