Recovering app data from one app from iTunes ba...

iVault (a photo storing app) has been removed from App Store and now when I open it on my iPhone, it crashes straight away. If I do a full backup of my iPhone to iTunes to save what's on there on the moment, then restore an old backup with this app in tact to the phone, copy the files and then re-apply the most recent backup, will this work to get the files off the previous back up, while keeping all of the existing data on my iPhone?

I am trying to avoid wiping all the new stuff on my phone while recovering the contents of the app.
