WiFi connected but not working

I notice this issue more on my iPad then my iPod touch, but still on both my apple devices. The WiFi is connected but does not work, unless I turn the WiFi off and back on in the device settings. I don't know why this happens but it is very annoying as it will do this if i just put the device to sleep for any period of time then try to use it again. Didn't see this specific issue so sorry if this is a re-post.

Hi 0brady0,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. If you are having issues with your iPad and iPod touch not correctly connecting to your Wi-Fi network, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support

Regards.

That doesn't address my specific issue, I just want to know what the reason is that my WiFi on apple devices doesn't work unless I cycle the WiFi on the devices. It doesn't make sense and I shouldn't have to do it every time I go to use the device after its been in sleep for any period of time. If there is a setting somewhere that I have ticked that needs to be unticked, or vice versa, then great. But this issue is only on apple devices so I know it's not the router or the WiFi.

Hi 0brady0,

It is certainly not expected that you should need to cycle the Wi-Fi on your devices each time in order to get it to connect. Based on your description of the issue, the steps in the above linked article may still be helpful. In particular, Resetting Network Settings may clear out any incorrect or corrupted network settings or caches that could lead to the behavior you are experiencing. Also, if possible, it may be a good idea to test your devices on a different Wi-Fi network and see if you see the same symptoms.

Regards.

I will try that and see if it does help, Thanks to both of you.
