How do I speed up music sync on Apple Watch?

Syncing playlists to my Apple Watch is a very, very slow process. I'm trying to determine whether this is normal, and whether there's anything I can do to speed up the process.

Here's my setup:

• Apple Watch Series 2, running WatchOS 4, on its charger.
• iPhone 7Plus, running iOS 11.0.1.
• Apple Music subscriber.

I'm trying to sync a single playlist, which contains 50 songs. I've tried restarting both devices, but the speed is still glacial. Anyone have any tips?
