Sound output to 2 devices at the same time?

Hi all

I have a strange one.... I have a Focusrite Saffire audio interface attached to my retina imac. I can change the system output from 'headphone' to 'Saffire' in System Preferences.

Something strange is occurring this morning.

With 'headphones' selected in 'Sound' (I have a cable attached to the output jack), I can adjust the volume, (I hear clicks and see the volume indicator move), Safari plays youtube and websites through the 'headphone' output. Anything from the BBC iplayer (from within the BBC website) however, continues to play through the Focusrite Saffire!

How can this happen??

Any ideas??
