iOS email app fetches wrong attachments

This is an issue that seems to have been reported since iOS 4 - still without solution.

In all my iOS devices (iPhone 6 and 8, Ipad Mini and Pro) the native mail app have issues fetching correct attachments. My devices are connected to Gmail account. My security camera sends emails with attached images named Camera_<date>_<time>_<counter>.jpg, i.e. all attachments are unique!

When I open the emails in the native app the images displayed are not the correct ones but random images from earlier emails - sometimes also a mix from different emails. When I forward the email to myself the forwarded email displays the correct images. Funny that after a couple of days when I open the same email again the same wrong images are shown again - so the wrong ones are not just random.

As said before this happens on all iOS devices. I can reproduce the issue easily on any device, and latest also on a brand new Iphone 8 (installed as new) with iOS 11.0.2!

Apple support claims they have never heard of the issue and claims "since it happens on many devices it has to be a problem with Gmail" (the server side).

Apple need to investigate this issue - I cannot use my iOS devices as professional tools when I cannot be sure that corrects documents are send and received. If Apple believes there is an issue with Gmail servers that affects only iOS devices they should start talking with eachother right now.
