how do I repair mac mail

I haver two business mail accounts which have stopped working (sending and receiving). I've deleted both accounts and re-installed, but still not working. My email host has installed both accounts on his Mac and they are working fine. My mac mail app on my MacBook (2016_ may be corrupt. How can I repair or reinstall this?
