Application Update Button "Misplaced" On App Up...

Hi There,

Since the most recent update to iTunes, I have an annoying situation with iTunes for Windows, version 12.2.6.20, running on Windows 10, on a Dell XPS 15 9560.

When I check for App Updates, if there are any updates, the Update button is displaced below the bottom margin of the visible size of the iTunes Window. No matter how large or small I resize the iTunes window, it remains just offset below it, with just a fraction of the top of the button visible.

The laptop's primary display is very high resolution, which does present some difficulties when I bring applications from display to display, and I wonder whether that contributes to this issue, but this problem is consistent across all of my multiple monitors - I run 3.

I can start an update of the apps that need to be updated by carefully positioning my mouse on the sliver of the button that is just visible above the bottom of the iTunes window. I hope that makes sense to people.

I've attached a screen shot of the situation I'm facing, and I'm surprised others haven't seen this replicated! The screen shot shows iTunes when there are no updates pending, but the "cut off" situation of the button is still relevant, because it still positioned below the lower edge of the iTunes window, with just a tiny sliver over the button above it. Not matter how large or small I re-size the iTunes window to be, the button stays "hiding" there below the bottom edge.

I did search for others experiencing similar behavior but, didn't find any similar results. Any help or suggestions, much appreciated.

Cheers,

Trevor

Hi trevorfromoakpark,

I understand that you are not able to select the update all application button in iTunes.  Thank you for providing the details on your configuration and steps you have tried already.  This sounds like you may need to adjust the display resolution to access this button.  Take a look at the information in the link below for steps on this process.

Getting the best display on your monitor

Please let us know if you need additional assistance with this, and thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

Cheers.

Hi sterling r,

I don't believe that to be the case, as all three of the monitors on my Dell XPS 9560, are working at their "recommended" resolution and "recommended" scaling at the moment, so I'm fairly certain that isn't the cause of this issue.

They are arranged with the primary notebook display sitting at desk level, and the two external monitors arranged on a monitor riser above. The resolutions, scaling and orientations are:

Primary: 3840 X 2160 (Recommended), 250% Scaling (Recommended), Landscape

External 1: 24" Dell UltraSharp Modern model, 1920 X 1200 (Recommended), 100% Scaling (Recommended), Landscape

External 2: 24" Dell UltraSharp Older model, 1920 X 1200 (Recommended), 100% Scaling (Recommended), Landscape

And as I mentioned irrespective of the size of the iTunes window, the "Check for Updates" / "Update Apps" button stays stubbornly almost completely hidden below the margin of the bottom of the iTunes application window, but with just enough of the button showing to allow it to just be clicked. As is evidenced with this quite remarkably "squashed" example sceen shot below, where I've really compressed the iTunes window into a quite a shallow window, but you can see that the button remains just visible.

Kind Regards,

Trevor

I have this problem too.  I was hoping it would go away after a few weeks (as Apple fixes these kind of bugs) but it hasn't. The problem is not with resolution.  It is a programming issue.  I have changed all of my settings on both of my monitors and it doesn't help.  The image is just set to display incorrectly.

Please fix this bug.  It is not terrible (since we can click on the sliver), it is just annoying.

At least nothing major broke with this update (as far as I know)...

Hi CharonStyx,

Not that I'm pleased you have the problem, but it's at least pleasing to get confirmation that at least someone else is  suffering from this same problem! Until I saw your confirmation of the same symptoms, I'd struggled to see confirmation of the same circumstances. Can I ask, are you seeing this on similar hardware? Multiple monitor etc?

Regards,

Trevor

Yes.  My laptop is a Dell M3800 with a 4K screen and I also use an attached 20 inch monitor at 1920x1080 (all recommended/highest resolution). I have tried changing the resolutions and the scaling but nothing helps.

I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it.  Navigate to the iTunes exe file or hover over the iTunes icon on the desk top.  Right click and open the Properties box.  Then select the Compatibility Tab.  About 2/3 way down select “Override high DPI scaling …” and then select “System” from the drop down selection.  Click “Apply” and this should do it.
