Disk ejected improperly despite Jettison

We recently relocated, and when I set up my IMac 2013 and plugged in the LaCie Thunderbolt 4tb drive that I use for Time Machine, I began getting "disk ejected improperly" messages after exiting sleep mode. In the past, Jettison had solved this. There are so many repeated messages that the system comes to a standstill and I have to reboot to get going again.

Jettison recommends three fixes -- turning off power nap, safe sleep mode, and "Wake for network access." I have taken all three steps, but it has not cured the problem. It appears to me that the system is trying to access the LaCie drive while it is in sleep mode and does so continuously. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.

Please contact the developers of the Jettison App to see if they are aware of any issues. However before doing so, try another cable and see if the issue is related to that.
