iMac mid 2011. El Capitan. Using SATA to USB cable trying to retrieve information. Attached to a 2009 iMac on El Capitan. Disk not appearing in screen, finder or USB input. I did check the "show external drives" box. Open to other option to retrieve the data. Removed the hard drive because I believe the graphics card went bad (vertical yellow/green or red lines and not booting. ThxYou are doing it wrong!!! Connect the two computers using Target Disk Mode. You will need a Firewire cable to connect the two machines together. Please carefully read OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
