Verizon Fios Gigabit

I got Verizon Fios Gigabit internet installed today and I ran some speed tests. The FIOS router is rated at 949/925 mbps. However, I'm unable to get above 360mbps on Fast or Speedtest.com. When I called the VZ tech they said the wireless card on my 2016 15" MBP Touchbar was throttling my internet speed. He said I need to "run a command line in terminal that will allow my wireless card to run at full duplex". Does anyone know how to do this? Alternatively, has anyone encounter and resolved this issue with an alternate solution? Please let me know. Thanks.

Generally speaking, the Verizon people know less than nothing about Macs. I've had them tell me to download and run .exe files.

Do you have any other devices that you can test on the network to see if you're actually getting anything close to the maximum speed?

Possibly, but I've seen a lot of other ppl with MBPs experiencing the same issue on Fios 750 and Gigabit internet on other forums - I'm going with cockroach theory on this one.

Do you have a USBc-to-Ethernet adapter? You can disprove the VZ theory quickly. On a 2016 tbMBP, using 802.11ac APs, I get close to gigabit speeds locally.

If you are testing wireless speeds inside the LAN side, use iperf inside the LAN.

Theoretical maximum wireless speeds can be lower due to many environmental factors. Out side the VZ gateway, Speedtest is usually fairly accurate. You can also use trace route to get the hops to nearest Speedtest server.

Unless you determine what sorts of speeds other devices are getting, you won't know if the problem is with your computer or with Verizon (router and/or service). Remember, just because other people are reporting similar symptoms doesn't mean they have the same underlying problems.

"run a command line in terminal that will allow my wireless card to run at full duplex".

Since Wi-Fi is using the same channel for both Transmit and Receive, running full duplex is completely impossible.

That answer only make sense for a user with an Ethernet connection.

There is a 3x3 MIMO in the 2016 tbMBPs. See Testing the Apple MacBook Pro Touchbar Wi-Fi: Does 3x3 MIMO Make a Difference? | Custom PC Review . It gets close to 890+ Mbps.

@TheoryGuy.. are you using the VZ router also as an AP, or are there any intervening APs? You can Alt+Click on the wireless icon and see the TxRate and PHY Mode.
