I have an ipod touch 6th gen and an ipad mini 2 that has worked well with Yahoo e-mail servers when the devices were running IOS 9. But now with IOS10 I am having trouble:  Reading the inbox is ok (I can see the messages using mail on either IOS device), but messages popped from the Yahoo account inbox to my UNIX server (done on the hour and half-hour using fetchmail 6.2.5) automatically moves the unread messages from the inbox to the trash folder (I take care NOT to read the messages in the Yahoo inbox using the Ipod touch or Ipad Mini 2).

Before IOS 10, I could select the trash folder using either IOS device  and see the updated imap view of the trash folder.  The messages would be up to date: Meaning that messages received from 10:00:01 to 10:29:59 would be popped by my UNIX server from my Yahoo account at 10:30 and they would disappear from the Yahoo inbox and be placed into the Yahoo trash folder automatically. These messages would appear in the trash folder on the ipod touch and ipad mini 2 when checked at 10:31 using either IOS device.

Now with with my devices on IOS 10.3.3, the messages in the Yahoo trash folder are not visible for 24 hours or more. Accessing Yahoo mail with the Firefox browser on my Windows desktop shows the messages in trash in real time (visible after 10:30) if I  click "inbox" (it is empty now) and then click "trash" and the messages from 10:00:01 to 10:29:59 are now available).

I have tried deleting the email accounts from the ipad and setting them back up again without resolving the issue. I have set the accounts up as "yahoo" and "other" but the results are the same.

I have the mail accounts on both IOS devices set to remove deleted messages after one month so the trash mail box will contain over 700+ messages at any time. 

Is there a limitation on IOS 10 mail that it can't work with large numbers of messages in the trash folder?

How do I fix this problem.
