I've looked at and followed the instructions in this KB article. Most of the instructions do not seem to apply to Windows 10 because preference settings are not in the locations mentioned or have been renamed. Further, regarding instructions on allowing firewall access, the two Apple utilities are not in the applications list, even after using the DVD or CD Sharing Update 1.0 for Windows. A search revealed that neither is installed on the PC. After following the procedure, the Mac (in this case a 2016 MacBook Pro) displays an empty folder in the Remote Disk window, not the connected PC.

The PC is running Windows 10 for Home 64-bit. The Mac is running Sierra.

This article needs to be revised and tested for Win10. Comments, suggestions?

I don't know enough to comment on the article, but have you established folder sharing between the two computers? It may simply work if you share the optical drive like any other folder. If not you may be able to copy the data on the optical drive onto a shared folder on the Windows computer which you can access from the Mac, or directly from the drive to a shared folder on the Mac.
