apple watch keeps asking for ios update before ...

Hi apple watch peoples

the apple watch 1 is not connecting to the iPhone 6 after a factory reset of the watch.

the watch says that its software is already updated and will not pair unless it updates.

I have reset both the phone and the watch 2 times.

Help?

First update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS, currently iOS 11.0.1 (start by making a backup):

• Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then pair your Apple Watch by following the remaining steps here:
