Update iCloud password on devices

Today I decided to update the password of my iCloud account. After having done that from the browser of my Mac, I thought I would have to change it also on my devices (Mac, iPhone, etc...). But then I noticed that all the changes made from iCloud (browser), were appearing also on my iPhone. How is that possible? I made the same with my Google account and on my iPhone I was asked to update the password from Preferences.
