ICloud family sharing upgrade / downgrade

My wife currently has the 200GB icloud option and I have the 50GB.  With the introduction of iCloud sharing we want to implement however I am the family owner/admin.  If I upgrade to the 200Gb plan, and she downgraded to the free plan, will everything stay in place?  Or will she lose data?
