downloading latest itunes

I have itunes loaded version 12.4.3.1. I'm trying to connect my iphones and apparently its not the latest version. I'm downloading the latest version from the apple site but if i download it, will it wipe all my existing music? or do i log in with my apple ID and the music will transfer? Help!

Your iTunes music library (which is stored in a different location on your drive than the app itself) will not be affected by updating to a newer version. Still, things do go wrong sometimes, so it's always a good idea to keep a backup of everything. If you have any problems, post back here and we'll walk you through.
