Issues playing videos on iPad Pro after 10.0.2 ...

I've been checking this forum for the past couple weeks and can't believe no one else is having this issue.  Ever since the update my iPad Pro will not play videos from certain apps and in my safari browser.  Here's a partial list; YouTube, IMDb, Netflix, Flixster, amazon video, and the built in apple movie app.  The videos load fine and you can skip to different sections of the video/movie however it just won't play.  Anyone else having this issue and/or know how to fix?

TIA

Hi. Have you restarted iPad since the update? Here are the steps

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.

2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.

3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

This seems to help the software get organized with the new code.

Diana,

Thanks for the reply.  I did try that however it only seems to fix the problem temporarily.  After a day or so it goes back to the same issues.

In my original post I forgot to mention that i can't play any of music from my Apple Music app as well.  Could this be some sort or plugin issue with the new update?  I don't believe it's a individual app issue because im having the same type of problem with various apps.

I have this problem playing videos too since the update to 10.0.2. It is so maddening! I get sound but no video. If I tap the screen I may get a still shot. Sometimes if I enlarge the screen it will play. Usually I find the video on You Tube and it usually plays OK. Also, since the update, I have to open a blog to "read more" twice to get it to open in Safari. The first time the Favorites tab opens. I spent some time on the phone with an Apple tech and he wanted me to connect to my computer and do a restore. That seems like over kill for me if they can fix it remotely. I vaguely remember the video issue in the past after an update and it was suddenly fixed. I hope the Apple people monitor this blog. I became trusting and updated too soon.

Ive got the same problem with my ipad air 2 since I've upgraded to ios10, happens with all video playback apps (youtube, apple video, Facebook, safari etc..).  Temporary resolved by rebooting iPad but comes back again after a couple of days of use - annoying.

i am having this issue too. It drives me nuts when it happens.

I am having this issue too. Sometime I turn off then on Siri, it starts playing again. If not, the only way is a device restart. I am using the latest update of iOS 10 on my iPad Pro 12". This issue did not happen before. Waiting for a fix from Apple.

HI good morning, I'm having exactly the same problem and not for the first time, I have an iPad Pro running the latest software and like you it works okay after a reset but only for a couple of videos then it reverts back to the original issue, have tried to contact apple support with no success!

Powering off my iPad Pro only solves the problem for a short time.  The solution can not be reboot your iPad every time you want to watch a video.

I had this issue show up on my iPad Pro the first day I had it and I did an update to it immediately after purchase.  However, I went into my App switcher and closed every app that was open.  Then went back into YouTube and it worked fine after that and I haven't seen it return....*crossing fingers*

I wish closing apps was the solution as that is quite a bit easier to do than rebooting the Ipad Pro every time it stops playing video.  There are a lot of these posts on the forums and they all have the solution as power down the ipad and then power it back on.  That is a work around to a system glitch, it is not a solution.

I Have realised that my iPad Pro has not been playing ANY videos for a while now. It seems to be the very same problem as others where I can hear the sound of the video, and drag the position of the video and all I see is a still. I don't play lots of videos or watch lots of utube so it may have been like that for some time. My iPad Pro is almost brand new and one of the very latest models. I was on version 10.x and after reading all the posts where others have the very same thing, I installed the very latest version 10.2 (as of 14th Jan 2017). This has not solved the problem. The memory leak that someone mentioned seems very plausable as after I reset the iPad, the videos spring into life, however, it is only VERY short lived as after a few minutes, the problem appears again.

like all of us with iPad pros, we have spent some considera money on them and I think it's shocking that Apple do not do much to help.

They MUST read these posts.

if anyone has any tips or advice, please let me know.

regards

Stuart
