How to include an external disk into de Time Ma...
Hi,
I have an iMac with a 1Tb internal HDD. I am using also an external 2 Tb HDD to store videos and pictures. I have another external HDD that I use to store the Time Machine backup copies.
I want to include the 2 Tb external HDD in the backup copies on Time Machine. When I select Time Machine preferences => Options I can see that the 2 Tb external HDD is in the list of "Excluded elements". I cannot remove it from the list, so I cannot run backup copies of the 2Tb external HDD on time Machine.
Is there a way to have backup copies also of my external HDD in Time Machine?.
Thanks a lot,
Olof
You can use more than one external drive for Time Machine backups. They just can't use them in combination to add more storage for the backups. Each drive will have a full Time Machine backup. Is this your goal?

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
I only have one HDD for the Time Machine backup copies. My goal is to be able to run the backup copies of both the iMac internal 1Tb HDD and the external 2Tb HDD into the same external time Machine 3 Tb HDD.
Best regards,
Olof

The External HD is added by default. In Time Machine preferences it has a location to add files, folders and HD's you do NOT wanted added. Everything else is added by default.

Your external 2 TB drive should be added to the backup set by default once it's connected, along with the internal drive.
