My macbook cannot boot (prohibitory symbol)

Hi there,

I have a macbook pro mid 2012, 500 GB hard drive and intel i5 processor, Sierra OS 10.x installed. Today I found out it cannot be started because I got the prohibitory symbol at boot.

I tried booting in recovery mode (command + r key) and running disk utility's first aid and I got the following message:

"Problems were found with the partition map which might prevent booting"

I had two partition on the disk: System partition and Data partition before the crash. When I go into Disk Utility, I only see Data Partition. Also, If I try to reinstall the OS from the option in recovery mode, it asks me to select the partition to install the OS in but only the data partition is listed, not the system one.

I tried starting with Command + S held down in order to get into the console and run some command to verify y possibly to fix the errors but It starts logging information and then again the prohibitory symbols appears in background and freeze, this doesn't let me read clearly the console.

Any ideas? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot!
