Why does Itunes want me to pay for songs that I...

I am very confused. I have imported my personal cds for the past several years. Now I am noticing that not all of the songs from the cds are showing up. I have to select show whole album and then it gives me a price I have to pay to get the song. I don't understand. I paid for the song when I bought the cd and I imported it. Why is this happening? Thanks in advance for your help.
