iPad 2 suddenly require "wifi activation" then ...

My iPad 2 suddenly locked up and says requires wifi activation. I did nothing to prompt this and cannot get past this initial screen. I held down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). It just keeps looping with the screen and I get no further.

I have now inadvertently activated Speak Auto-text toggled when trying the above. What to do.

Hi. Try triple clicking the Home button to turn off whatever you turned on.

I haven't heard of "WiFi Activation" before. iPads do require re-activation from time to time, and iPad 2 seems to be experiencing it a lot at the moment.

Are you unable to complete  the activation steps? It probably asks you to connect to WiFi, then login with the Apple ID used to set up the device. If that's not what's happening, could you post a screenshot?
