documents folder empty!!

So I opened my laptop after a couple of days to find the contents of my Documents folder completely gone except for an old PDF from 2016, which was the only file not the part of any sub-folders. Almost all of it was backed up on iCloud as well but it is missing from there too. Also nothing to be found in advanced>restore documents in cloud.

I'm using macOS Sierra on a Macbook Air 13 inch Early 2015.

Please help!! I have no backup elsewhere! Too much important stuff lost!!
