Apple Watch face fell off.

The face of my Apple watch fell off.  I am 64.  My watch is not beat up and very good taken care of.  Never been dropped....etc.   By the number of posts on this subject it is almost if, there is a problem with the assembly.  I just wonder if it is worth it taking it to the Apple Store, as I am not willing to pay $200 for a repair.....

I had the same problem.  Apple has quietly offered to replace 1st generation watches.  The problem is caused by a malfunctioning swollen battery.  Call in to replace, they will collect info, send you a box and then send you a replacement. I just called it today and am waiting to send it return. Who knows what watch they will replace mine with. I had the basic model.
