File and folder ownership issue
I have had a number of macs which have been upgraded through numerous operating systems over the years which includes files going back to circa 2001 (some of which originally migrated from a PC).
There are a couple of folders in my Documents library which were migrated from previous macs and for which it is a pain to do anything with the contents of because any changes to those files bring up a password prompt to make the change.
I have successfully applied chown -R username folder/files to them and in the file/folder info pane it shows my username as having read/write permissions but I still get the prompt every time for any changes I make to any of these files.
Does anyone know how I can sort out the permissions on these files so that I don't get a prompt to enter my password every time?
