E Mail accounts !!!

I have just got a macbook pro. I have had one before and had no problems. But this time I can't seem to be able to set up email accounts !

Problems

I go through the prompted instructions but the mail does not work. Keeps telling me to check my settings but I do that and still nothing works

This morning I sent a test email successfully from the iCloud account....Hurray .... but them when I tried to send another one it didn't work !

Can someone help me please??
