Time Machine and my backups

HI...I'm running Sierra on a 2012 backbook pro.

Here is the situation.

1.  System HD: 1TB

2.  Backup HD: 500GB

I accidentally installed some malware and I went into time machine to restore the System HD to the day before.

Before I started this restore, I was only using about 240GB of the System HD.

After I completed the restore, it doubled the size of the System HD to 560GB.

I didn't realize this until I tried to create a fresh back up and the system then started telling me I don't have enough space on the Backup HD.

I don't know why it did this and I don't know how to resolve it.

Does anyone have any answers or solutions?

Thanks,

Matt

To recover the system files you should boot into the recovery partition and use setup assistant.. pick a date before your malware install and then wipe the current drive and reload the entire thing from backup.

What you have done is to load the entire OS twice.

Tell us the exact method you used.
