This is a complaint to Apple designers.  With only two USB-c (Lightning) ports on the late 2016 MacBook Pro, it is a real pain to use on my desk hooked up to an external monitor (Displayport but I also had a miniDisplayport adapter available for the monitor), printer, backup portable drives, wireless mouse.  The available multiport adapters had about 10%-15% unfavorable reviews for not working.  Half the ones I selected did not work.  I was really scrambling to make my desk functional.  Then, my ISP's modem failed and their tech support wanted me to plug directly into their RJ45 port - oops, that is another connector Apple deleted so yet another adapter has to be ordered.  So I am looking at $125 in adapters so Apple can make a skinnier laptop with fewer materials and save money.  If I wanted a super-skinny laptop I would have bought a Macbook Air. If I wanted a device with hardly any connectors and to trust some far away data center and to trust my ISP for no failed service, I would have ordered an iPad instead.  The Apple designers need to re-think their designs, and when they release a new product to have necessary adapters (that work) available at the same time.
