unable to download application/software

Hello!

Just received a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas ( a custom electronic cutting tool ) basically comes with a cd to download the application itself to my macbook pro. Popped the CD in and asks me to drag & drop to applications, which i proceed to do. Then it starts loading, then a screen pops up...

"Silhouette Studio needs administrator permission to create resource folders.

Please click OK and provide an administrator password."

--I click OK & proceed to next screen which says

"Silhouette Studio wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."

--Then I type in my correct password & enter.

Following screen says,

"Was unable to create a required resource folder. Please ensure that Silhouette Studio has administartor privileges to perform this task."

Not quite sure what to do at this point or where/what to check to ensure that it does indeed have admin privileges?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

-Yes I am the account user with admin

-And ive emailed the company support team and they shot me an email to do the following: but this didnt work:(

1) Turn off Mac

2) Turn on Mac, holding down COMMAND + S (this boots into single user mode)

3) Type exactly (carefully noting the spaces):

                        /sbin/fsck -fy

                        /sbin/mount -uw /

                        /bin/chmod 1775 /

                        /bin/sync

                        exit

Once Mac OS X is loaded again, try Silhouette Studio again.

fyi:

/sbin/fsck -fy

This checks the filesystem integrity

/sbin/mount -wu /

This mounts the root filesystem as read/writable.

/bin/chmod 1775 /

This will correct the permissions for your / directory  (this case the root)

/bin/sync

This will make sure the change is written to the filesystem

Same error message and problem, but with Silhouette Connect (plugin for Illustrator and Corel) and the Silhouette Portrait printer. Attempted the fix suggested by Silhouette tech support to cklovely above, but it didn't work.

Its not a problem due to an incorrect password.

Waiting for a response from Silhouette...

Go to <macintosh hd>

Open Library

Select Application Support (1 click only)

Holding down command I (capital i), click again

In the bottom right corner unlock the lock using your admin code

Change admin rights to read&write

Took a week of poking and prodding to figure this out.  Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for posting this! I was so excited to get my silhouette and then ran into this problem! Your solution was perfect!

Thank you this worked for me too!

Thank YOU! I haven't been able to use my silhouette all year and tech support from silhouette was NO help!

I had this problem too.

I checked Library as RL Jayhawk suggested and my Read & Write were ok.

I figured out that I needed to enter the username and password that my computer was set up under.  After I entered that I was able to use my Silhouette Cameo 3.

Good Luck, it worked for me.

I have the same issue.  What is the current fix for this issue. I had no problem with my old Mac, but haven't been able to  install my software on my MacBook Pro for MANY months. Please Help!
