Back up missing content

I recently purchased an iPhone 8. I backed up my iPhone 6 to iCloud prior to setting up my new phone. It states that the back up was successful but I am missing the last day of videos and photos when I restore from the back up. I have already erased the content on my old phone since I traded it in for a credit towards my new iPhone. My question is would there be a reason that the back up wouldn't include my last day of videos and photos? I went to settings and was going to erase all content on my new iPhone and see if I could restore from the back up again but I get an warning message stating "Documents and Data are being Uploaded to iCloud, If you erase now, you will lose documents and data that are being uploaded to iCloud". Any help in getting that content back would be helpful.
