Continuous beeping on iPad Pro w/ Smart Keyboard

About every day, I will find my iPad Pro continuously beeping.  Laying flat on my desk with the keyboard closed or in my briefcase.  The only way to stop the beeping is to remove the keyboard completely.  Just opening doesn't stop it.

I think it's related to notifications happening, as there are always notifications on the splash screen when I open the keyboard.  In the case of it laying on my desk, there shouldn't be any buttons pressed, although that could be the case in a briefcase.

I'm baffled by this, especially since there are no search results on this topic in Google.  Anyone else seeing this?

Hi Lost Shaker 2,

Thanks for checking out the Apple Support Communities! I understand your iPad Pro is making a beeping noise and doesn't stop unless you disconnect your Smart Keyboard. I use my iPad Pro everyday and having mine beep like that would drive me crazy so I'm happy to provide some direction.

The first thing that I recommend is making sure that your iPad is up to date.

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Since you mentioned having to disconnect and re-connect your Smart Keyboard, if there is an update available for that, it should pop up automatically when you re-connect it.

I also recommend to take a look through your Notification Settings and turn off anything that's not necessary and check that everything else is set up as you prefer. If you use the Messages app on your iPad, you may want to check that the setting for Repeat Notification is turned off for it as that could be causing it to beep more than once. That will be in Settings > Notifications > Messages > Repeat Alerts.

Use Notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Cheers!

Mine does this too.  Perhaps clarification is needed for the apple tech person that this is not a normal beep found In any of the sound settings.  You cannot make your iPad do this beep as a notification.  It is a very high pitched beep (I have heard some people report this same sound with a different number of beeps if your memory is almost full).

How do I fix this.  It came on without warning and nothing I can seem to do makes it go away.

Been working on this for months.  Updated to latest release, replaced keyboard under warranty.  My battery was almost dead this week when I boarded a plane.  I don't usually hear the beeping until I unzip my backpack. It happens when in the bag or laying flat on the desk.

No, I'm not going to turn off notifications.

CLEARLY, the keyboard was not designed nor tested properly.

I am having this problem too.  Is it possible that this is a fault with the iPads three dot connector on the left side of the device?

I have the same issue. New 12" iPad Pro, bought two days ago. Was next to my bed with smart keyboard attached in a bag. Not charging. Last used 10 PM, at 9AM or so it started beeping constantly.

The beep sound is the beep when the device gets connected to the charger. But nothing connected. Lock screen flickering. There was one notification on the lock screen but at was from 3AM.

disconnecting and reattaching the smart keyboard didn't stop the beeping. Unlocking, didn't stop the beeping. Rather than rebooting I opened Overcast and played a podcast - that did stop it.

Someone at work also has a 12" iPad and Smart Keyboard and has experienced the same issue.

I am running 10.1.1 14B100, not a public beta.

I Have the same issue, but with a flickering screen as well. I never considered removing the keyboard cover. I usually turn it off then back on. Wonder if it's an issue with the Smart Keyboard cover and IPad Pro.

I'm wondering if I should exchange my iPad as I've only had it a few days.

Replacing the keyboard does NOT solve the problem.

I'd certainly take it back (along with the keyboard). Don't wait until you're past the return period to deal with this.

I had the same issue.  It appears to have been the Smart Keyboard.  I exchanged it for another and haven't had the problem since.

I think the keyboard was faulty anyway as it was constantly disconnecting from the iPad Pro.

It seems it had something to do with the Smart Keyboards connection to the iPad that was causing the iPad to rapidly beep and well as flicker.

The culprit appears to have been the Smart Keyboard.  I exchanged it and haven't had a problem since.

The keyboard had a faulty connection which I think was causing the iPad to "freak out."

I was constantly having to reconnect the keyboard to the iPad to get it to work consistently.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out.

I have this issue too, but not very frequently. It mostly stops when just opening the keyboard cover. I wonder though whether this issue causes another issue I have: every once in a while, my iPad sort of freezes. It is busy somewhere and is very slow, almost unusable. I have to reset it to be able to use it normally. Maybe this beeping thing starts to happen and when I don't notice that, it might eventually lead to a frozen system...? Anyway, there is a problem with the connection between iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard and apparently a lot of people are experiencing this problem... And I am a bit concerned as this problem exists for months already...

No, really, not very many. And, the ones who have reported back have said the issue was with the keyboard. Take your iPad and your keyboard to your local Apple Store. If the Smart Keyboard is defective, they will replace it. Make an appointment first.
