What are the refurbished products like?

I am looking to invest in a laptop for editing and the one i want is very expensive but the refurbished one is in my price range.

I am wondering if there are any issues with refurbished items or if they run slower? I don't have any experience with their refurbished products

They are like new, including warranty, except they are packaged differently.

I have bought and continue using refurbished products from Apple. They have been brought up to the same level of quality as new models but may have been returned for product swaps or minor problems now fixed. And, they come with the same warranty as new products and are qualified for adding AppleCare. I consider them an excellent choice.

Why would a refurbished item that is the exact same model of a new item run any slower? It has all of the same components, so they will naturally run at the same speed.

Unlike outside services that "refurbish" items only to the point they operate as expected, Apple does whatever it takes to make the item run and look as new. If that means replacing scratched glass or a cover, it gets replaced.

Some refurbished items from Apple aren't refurbished at all. Some are returned items that may have never even been opened. Or, it's a slightly older version of the same item (different part number). For whatever reason, Apple discounts them as refurbished. Typically, an actual refurbished item from Apple comes in a plain brown box. This so the buyer can't turn around and sell it as "new" on eBay since they don't have the original packaging. I purchased an Apple refurbished iPhone 6s from Apple's site, which came in the original box. Meaning it was actually brand new. Saved a fair amount of money purchasing it as a refurb.
