How to Use Split view multitasking in iOS 11

Hey...I just upgraded my iPad to iOS 11 and I dont kniw many of its features.. I just wanna know how to use the split view multitasking in iOS 11... thank you

They changed the way you do multi-tasking, so here's how you do it! Swipe up at the very bottom of your screen, a Dock of apps will pop up, hold the app that you want to use then drag it on top of the screen. It does the same thing as the slide over function. Hope this helps!

Thanks for Your help... but how to use split view

You should watch the videos at the link Chris gave you.  Here’s an addendum.

 

Note: The directions below worked on my iPad Pro.  Some devices do not have the Split View option.  Anecdotally, it will not work on iPad Air or a Mini 2. 

 

It took me a few tries to do the right motion for multitasking.  This worked:

 

  1. Swipe up just a little bit at the bottom of the screen in order to see the dock.
  2. Press and hold on the second app you want.  Do not drag.  The icon will give the impression of a “pushed button.”  It gets a little bit longer in both length and width, and greys out a little.
  3. Only after it looks like a pushed button should you drag it.  Once you start dragging, it gets longer.  You can then drag it to the right or left side of the screen.

 

I can toggle between slide over and split view by pressing on the little notch on top of the 2nd app’s window and dragging down.  It works regardless of whether the 2nd app is on the right or left side of the screen.
