unable to stream

Hi Apple Community

I'm currently running OSX Yosmite on a macbookpro mid 2014 model. About a day now I have been having trouble streaming media onsite and from apps (Netflix, Spotify, videos on websites). When I attempt to use apps/ sites that stream such as Netflix, I get a page with smartproxydns
I also had error  messages "Your connection is not private" or "NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID"                    I never had trouble streaming from either onsite or apps.

However, I'm able to use everything on the family iPad, therefore it's my macbook

I use Chrome as the main browser

What I've done so far:
Restarted the Mac and internet
Tried streaming on other platforms (firefox, safari -didn't work)
Updated softwares
unistalled and re-installed Chrome
Checked the certificates and they said they are valid (Checked my date/time on clock to make sure that certificates are still valid)

Any help would be very much appreciated.
