Fail startup in single

Macbook Pro A1707 (Late 2016 with touchbar) in single user mode will not start past "AppleKeyStore: initializing endpoint." I have reset NVRAM, SMC and started in Restore and ran Disk Utility - no errors. I plugged in the power while it was stuck and it displayed "SmartBattery: finished pollingtype 1"

You have 90 days from date of purchase for free phone support. If you're past that period, I'd definitely bring it to an Apple Store "genius" bar for diagnosis/free fix as you are still in your one year hardware warranty: https://support.apple.com/contact

 

Backup your data, as you always should, before going as they may want to erase/install OS.



I already had taken it in for the same issue before. However, your advise is very sound and appreciated. I was able to just use Restore Mode to get it working. I'm just wondering if their was anything that I could try with the Single User Mode. I tried different commands that I found elsewhere in AppleSupport. However, they seemed dated. The A1707 seems to have problems with 10.12.5 beta 4. So, that may be it.



Personally, I never run a beta. By definition, you're a guinea pig, just asking be tested upon. I let others who can afford down time and problems do the work. ymmv



I've been experienced exact same problems above.

 

I visited genius bar today. The guy at the genius bar said, the error message is related with keychain or user account. And he didn't know what is the exact solution for it.

 

However, he did re-install macOS and recovery partition through network boot including re-partition. Now the problem is gone.
