Connecting Digital Piano

I can't figure out how to properly connect my Yamaha P-45 to Logic Pro X.

I want to record the built in sounds from my keyboard, in Logic.

But i can only record the piano sounds from Logic.

How do i get it to record it?

Should i choose "Audio" or "External instrument" when choosing what i want to record?

I feel like i´ve tried everything, and it still doesn't work.

Hi,

You are in for a learning curve or maybe you know this.

First thing is, MIDI is not Audio, your keyboard sounds are not transferred into the computer with a MIDI hookup.

MIDI is a control protocol, much like a digital "player piano". If you play/record one of Logic's instrument and then open the event list you can see the MIDI data, what note you played, how fast (velocity) ir was pressed, how long it was held....etc. You will need and Audio hookup from the keyboard's audio outs into the computer's Audio In. Most people use an Audio Interface to get quality sound. You will be recording a WAV or AIFF file as an Audio track in Logic.
