my imac os x freezes soon after startup

 My iMac freezes soon after start up. Then the  screen does an occasional quick flash. It slows down and then eventually freezes and I have to hold the start button in order to shut it down. I already reset day and the R a.m. and also the SMC by unplugging it.  Neither have worked. I do have the iOS x leopard disk I don't know what to do with it. I am also running the Adobe suite CS3. I do have a disc for those programs. Please help!

You can try to restart in the Recovery Partition (Command + R on startup) and see if you can get into Disk Utility and then run First Aide. Please run First Aid several times.

 

Then try resetting the PRAM per the directions in iMac SMC and PRAM reset

 

However, what you are describing sounds like a hardware failure. If you iMac is newer than a 2011 then take it to an Apple Store for a free diagnostic. If it's a 2010 or older please take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider in your area to be professionally diagnosed. If you don't know of any please click Apple - Find Locations - Country Selector to begin finding one.
