Late

Hi all,

I have a Late-2013 27" iMac with MacOS Sierra (10.12.6) installed.

This last week it has suddenly started running incredibly slowly.  I can't tie the change to anything specific other than it was after we had a power-cut (so the iMac would've turned off without shutting down).

I've cleared out a load of space and have over 100Gb free on the hard disk.

I've used CleanMyMac 3.0 to clear out a load of disk space and it says my disk and memory usage are healthy.

I've downloaded and run BitDefender to look for malware - nothing found.

When I run Activity Monitor the CPU is idling around 94% but the iMac is running as if it was at 100% utilised.

(e.g. Applications take minutes, yes minutes to load, CleanMyMac keeps jumping in and saying applications are "unresponsive" but if you leave them they do eventually load. Any action takes many, many times longer than it would normally)

Any other ideas for what I can try to find out what the issue is?

Many thanks for any advice - I've run out of ideas!
